About The Soap Shepherd
Thank you for visiting The Soap Shepherd website!
The Soap Shepherd is a small family owned business, managed by Rebecca Meyer, in Southeastern Indiana. My husband Wayne and I both grew up here and have raised our family with the same traditional old school values instilled in us by our parents. We have two sons Thomas and Andrew and they both live in the area. Thomas is married to Christine and they have two beautiful children Ben and Lucy Lou. They have at one time or another all helped me with the soap business. Wayne comes home from his job nearly every single day and helps me however he can. I could not do this without him. Family is very important to both of us and we look forward to what the future holds.
When I tried a goat milk soap a friend gave me and quickly saw the amazing difference in my skin I decided to learn how to make it myself. I love to learn the process of makings things. Making soap was not an easy process to learn but I am so glad I took the plunge. I will say I learn best by doing so I did not use a book to learn the process but trial and error. I documented results and changed things ever so slightly until I had the results I wanted. Learning this way you really grasp what happens and why it happens and you learn problem solving. Learning and research took a very long time but I am happy to say I have a wonderful recipe that I created myself. I know because my customers tell all the time and keep coming back for more.
Now I have eleven years experience of soap making and I still love it. Over the years I have tried many different jobs and I can sincerely say this is what I should have been doing all along. I love doing shows, teaching people about goats milk soap and how good it is for their skin. Goat milk soap is gentle enough for those who have dry skin, eczema, psoriasis or for those who see the benefits of using natural phthalate free products. I think you will agree we have way too many chemicals in our life.
I am often asked what is my favorite scent. That is so hard to answer because I love so many of them. Right now I will say it would be a close tie between Winter Kiss and Mountain Mist. We have over thirty different scents in categories like floral, fresh, earthy, food and even an unscented oatmeal. Our top three soaps in sales are Eucalyptus Spearmint, Lavender and Unscented Oatmeal. We also offer a goat milk body cream in many of the soap scents. This cream is thick but not greasy and it does not take but a small amount. Use it like you would lotion. I love it for my feet and even my face. I also offer the cream in Unscented and it is the top in sales. I hope you will give our soaps and creams a try, I think you will fall in love with smell, lather and best of your new and improved skin.
Please see our home and benefits pages to learn more about our products and please drop me an email with any questions you may have. I answer every single email.
Our website is safe and secure. We use Paypal and Square for all our transactions.
Thanks again from the Meyer family!
